WoodLawn

Tamar Valley, Tasmania

SUSTAINABLE - MINIMAL INTERVENTION | REPRESENTATION - QLD

Formerly Two Tonne Tasmania, Woodlawn represents the full spectrum of wines crafted by Ricky Evans. It accounts for Two Tonne Tasmania, Havilah and a slew of Single Vineyard wines which are made at the mercy of the Tamar’s seasonality.

While Two Tonne, the first of the brands, originated in the Tamar, it now focuses on the sub-regionality of Tasmania. The core of Two Tonne is from the Tamar Valley (TMV) and grown by Ricky and his family, while the wine produced from the East (EST) and South (STH) of the state are sourced from likeminded growers, who are more often than not, good mates as well. Winemaking here embraces fruit purity, acting only as a frame for vintage and terroir.

Havilah, established in 2019, began as an outlet for Ricky’s creativity—exploring technique and varietal in equal measure. It offered an opportunity to handle fruit that otherwise didn’t fit with the concept of Two Tonne. While the wines still explore technique, experience with them means their style is more defined, and a core range has emerged which includes Pinot Gris, Rosé, an orange wine, and a couple of reds.

The Single Vineyard wines, which could really fall under any of the three banners, have come through Ricky’s expansion of vineyard management and another level of care applied to several of the very best sites across the Tamar. The wines are terroir-focused and lean into the longevity of the varietals when vinified at their best.

Woodlawn presents itself as one of the future greats of the Tamar Valley, and we are ecstatic to be representing the breadth of Ricky’s talent.

2025 HAVILAH PET NAT - TAMAR VALLEY, TAS

The Havilah Pet Nat is a playful, ancestral-method sparkling blend—mainly Pinot Gris with a splash of Riesling—from Tamar Valley. It delights with bright citrus energy, zippy lemon-drop candy flavors, a subtle floral lift, and just a hint of sweetness, all anchored by crisp acidity that keeps it fresh and lively.

2024 HAVILAH ‘OGG’ GRIS GEWURTZ RIZZ - TAMAR VALLEY TAS - SKIN CONTACT

It’s a textural skin contact wine here, coming from a bunch of different varieties, made in a bunch of different ways. For those who need to know; gris, gewurz, tropical chard, schonburger.

2023 HAVILAH ‘ROG’ PINOT GRIS - TAMAR VALLEY TAS - ROSE OF GRIS

This had another name but ‘ROG’ is more friendly. It’s rose made from pinot gris, a different style compared with the pinot noir version. A few days soaking on skins, pressed into older casks, left on lees for a while until it felt right, ROG is fuller & richer in style.

2024 HAVILAH ROSE - TAMAR VALLEY TAS

100% pinot noir grown specifically for this wine, by Bill at Glen Shian, also one of the nicest guys. Expect a crisp, delicate expression, with just enough texture from time on lees to balance the fresh feel.

2023 HAVILAH SHIRAZ - TAMAR VALLEY TAS

There is some lovely, albeit, tiny patches of this noble grape in Tasmania, we found one. On the western side of the Tamar Valley, I had my eye on this for years, and here we are, in a year warm enough to ripen it neatly. This is typically cool climate, but I still call it shiraz; white pepper, blue fruits, fresh and crunchy acidity. Spent some time in one of those real big fancy barrels that all winemakers secretly want to turn into a swimming pool one day.

2024 TWO TONNE TASMANIA ‘TMV’ RIESLING - TAMAR VALLEY TAS

The 2024 ‘TMV’ Riesling from Two Tonne Tasmania is a pure and finely tuned expression of Tamar Valley terroir. Bursting with aromas of lime blossom, green apple, and wet stone, the palate is razor-sharp and vibrant. Expect mouth-watering acidity, citrus-laced minerality, and a long, clean finish. Bone-dry, energetic, and age-worthy—this is classic cool-climate Riesling at its finest.

2024 TWO TONNE TASMANIA ‘TMV’ CHARDONNAY- TAMAR VALLEY TAS

A poised cool‑climate Chardonnay that captures the purity of Tasmania’s Tamar Valley. Aromas of white nectarine, Meyer lemon, and delicate florals mingle with a hint of struck flint. The palate is finely textured and focused, revealing layers of citrus zest, stone fruit, and subtle cashew from well‑judged oak. A vivid line of acidity drives a long, mineral‑laden finish. Elegant, precise, and highly refreshing—drink now for brightness or cellar 3‑5 years for added complexity.

2024 TWO TONNE TASMANIA ‘TMV’ PINOT NOIR - TAMAR VALLEY TAS

This wine is from Tasmania’s Tamar Valley (TMV). Beginning just south of Launceston the valley winds 50km north to its meeting point with the powerful Bass Strait. Produced from different sites, our intent with this wine is to reflect what we believe are the standout characteristics of the Tamar Valley sub region. We pick each vineyard at the right time, resulting in a juicy and vibrant pinot noir that expresses red fruits and spice. There is softness within its warm heart, it leaves you with a trail of freshness and closes with strawberry seed-like tannin. This is produced from all four of our own sites, plus two dedicated growers, it is a true representation of the valley.

2024 TWO TONNE TASMANIA ‘EST’ PINOT NOIR - FREYCINET COAST, TAS

The 2024 ‘EST’ Pinot Noir from Two Tonne Tasmania is a delicate yet expressive wine from the windswept Freycinet Coast. Aromas of wild strawberry, red cherry, and rose petal rise from the glass, supported by hints of forest floor and spice. The palate is light to medium-bodied, with silky tannins, bright acidity, and a gentle mineral finish. A fine-boned Pinot with coastal elegance and a true sense of place—perfect with duck, mushroom dishes, or simply on its own.

2022 WOODLAWN WAVERLY VINEYARD CHARDONNAY - TAMAR VALLEY TAS

Waverley is situated just to the east of Launceston, with a little bit of elevation, it is more influenced by the surrounding mountains, rather than the Tamar River. This vineyard was planted in 2005, and we have farmed out ourselves since 2015. At the time, the owner had stepped away, and the vineyard was derelict. Naively, I went and knocked on the door of the owner, convincing him to let me take it on. Five years later I was still sorting it out, and producing very light crops, but always super quality. This has always been the more pure fruited component of the Dog & Wolf, the site seems to hold its acidity, and the wines are lacy and bright with line and length. Fermented in second use 500L puncheons, a touch of MLF, it spent 10 months in barrel before being transferred to tank to rest on light lees for a further 4 months.

2022 WOODLAWN THREE WISHES VINEYARD PINOT NOIR - TAMAR VALLEY TAS

Situated just north of Hillwood on the eastern bank of the Tamar River, this is a beautiful and unique site, planted in 2000. Protected from the northerly winds of bass strait, the vineyard sits in a small valley, facing north/north east, it is a warm site, also influenced by the river which lies a few hundred metres to the south. This bright and sunny microclimate produces a fuller style of chardonnay, richer in its expression, full of flavour, whilst maintaining the natural acidity to match its weight. Fermented in a mix of new and second use 500L puncheons, it spent 11 months in barrels prior to 3 months resting on light lees in tank.
