Owen Latta is a generational winemaker from Coghills Creek, where his family planted Eastern Peake vineyard in the early 1980s—an ideal cool-climate site identified by Trevor Mast for premium Pinot Noir. This deep connection to terroir shaped Owen’s philosophy, leading him to establish LATTA VINO, a project focused on alternative varietals from lesser-known Western Victoria subregions.
Since 2012, Owen has crafted small-batch, expressive wines with a minimal intervention approach, allowing each vineyard to speak for itself. His Sauvignon Blanc follows Loire Valley techniques—wild fermented, aged on lees, and textured yet precise. His Precarious 02 Bianco, a co-ferment of multiple varieties, defies classification, blending innovation with tradition.
LATTA VINO is a balance of creativity and precision, respecting classic winemaking while pushing boundaries. Owen’s wines challenge convention, capturing both place and personality in every bottle, making him a standout voice in Western Victoria’s wine scene.

The palate is lifted by crisp acidity and a mineral-driven line, layered with delicate tannin from gentle skin contact during a 3–10 day open ferment, then nine months’ lees ageing in mixed barrels . This wine is Made from traditional varieties not using any classic or fine wine methods.
Its always all a bit of an experiment creating the rattlesnake, classic varietals are pushed beyond their boundaries to see what can happen. It’s also important to remember the vineyards are the real stars, these sites produce exceptional fruit reflecting their place.
This wine is made up of many different skin contact ferments. they were assembled all together & bottled in November.

Pale pink in hue, this Nebbiolo and Sangiovese blend exudes aromas of sour cherry, cranberry, and delicate rose water. The palate is lively yet textural, with vibrant blood orange and subtle almond notes framed by fine, chalky tannins. Whole-bunch pressing and barrel fermentation lend depth and freshness, culminating in a savory, elegant finish. It’s a structured and refreshing rosé, perfect for warm afternoons or light meals.
