Giacomo Fenocchio

Monforter D’alba - Piedmont | Claudio Fenocchio

ORGANIC

Founded in 1864, Giacomo Fenocchio is a fifth-generation Barolo estate led by Claudio Fenocchio, who took over in 1989 after his father’s passing. Spanning 14 hectares, the estate includes prized vineyards in Cannubi (Barolo), Villero (Castiglione Falletto), and Bussia (Monforte d’Alba), where the cantina sits atop the hill.

Despite the modernizing wave in Barolo, Claudio has remained true to classic winemaking traditionsorganic farming, long fermentations on skins, and aging in large Slavonian oak casks. His wines are renowned for their purity, terroir clarity, and authenticity.

A rising star in Italy, Claudio has introduced a modern winery while experimenting with extended macerations of up to 90 days, reviving historical techniques with remarkable results. In 2014, The New York Times ranked Fenocchio’s 2010 Barolo second in a tasting, ahead of iconic names like Elio Grasso and Vietti. His Baroli masterfully balance purity, tradition, and elegance.

Dry, impeccably balanced, with a few slightly bitter finishing notes that keep your interest hooked. Some of our favourite characteristics of the Langhe region creep in; blackberries with real depth, some cocoa richness, and subtle earthiness.
